Grant Application Guidelines

OPEN from 2 February 2025 till 31 March 2025.

1. Application Submission Process and Key Dates [2026]
· Applications for 2026 project grants may be submitted from 2nd February 2025 until 31st March 2025.
· There will be only one grant application period for 2026 projects.
· All applicants must register and login to the applicant portal via the Chessed website and make all submissions via the portal.

· Applications and all supporting documentation can only be submitted via the Chessed website portal.
· The 2026 Grant application form will be available during the open dates, by logging into the Chessed Foundation web site at https://chessed.org.au/login.
· Successful 2025 applicants must complete the Funding & Acquittal forms during 2025 to be eligible to receive grants in 2026.
· Successful 2026 applicants will be advised in September 2025 and will be required to complete and sign a Grant Agreement for each grant awarded.
2. Requirements
· All organisations (individuals are not eligible to apply) may apply for funding, but the funds must be used for projects which are in accordance with the Shulchan Aruch.
· The Foundation will consider applications for projects and/or initiatives that meet The Chessed Foundation Giving Protocol as determined by the Advisory Committees and the Board.
· Applications must be received by the grant application closing date.
· Late applications will not be considered.
· Successful applicants must use their best endeavour to complete approved projects within the timeframe outlined in their application.
· Successful applicants must advise The Chessed Foundation of any changes that may affect their ability to undertake or complete the approved project according to the timeframe outlined in the application.
· If the successful applicant is unable to undertake or complete the project, or the grant is not fully expended upon completion, the organisation must report on the unexpended grant to the Foundation.
· Successful applicants are required to lodge a funding "Review and Acquittal" form for each project, using the form accessible via the portal. The review form is to be completed at the latest by 30th June.
· If the June acquital report does not acquit for 100% of funds granted, then a final report is due by 31st December of the grant year.
· Successful applicants must complete and sign the Grant Agreement prior to funds being made available.
3. Selection Criteria
The factors that will be taken into consideration when applications are being assessed are:
· The project aligns with the mission of The Chessed Foundation and is in accordance with our Giving Protocols.
· The project demonstrates value for money. The application must include a budget with detailed costings and evidence of the capability to deliver to the proposed timetable and budget.
· The project maintains its outcomes or benefits beyond the funding period. This must be demonstrated in the grant application.
· The project must be able to evaluate its impact and success. Key performance indicators must be outlined in the grant application.
4. The Selection Process
· The application will be checked to ensure it meets the selection criteria.
· All eligible applications will be assessed and prioritised against the Giving Protocols and in relation to each other.
· Applications will be reviewed by Advisory Committees and then the Board of The Chessed Foundation. The decision of the Board is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
· Unsuccessful applicants are welcome to reapply in subsequent years, unless advised that they are outside of the Giving Protocol on a project.
· All applications will remain confidential.
5. Funding Exclusions
Projects and/or initiatives that will not be funded:
· Those that occur outside Victoria and/or whose benefit does not effect Victorians.
· Those from organisations that have previously failed to carry out or complete approved projects funded by The Chessed Foundation.
· Organisations that fail to submit Funding and Acquittal reports as required.
